Growing up in Akron, Contrell experienced firsthand the challenges of affordable housing, including time spent in housing supported by AMHA. Through those experiences, he recognized a common issue—affordable housing was often associated with lower quality, limited care, and a lack of pride in the living environment.
Determined to change that narrative, Contrell and his wife set out to build Alford Property Group with a clear and powerful mission: to redefine affordable housing.
